1. Know who your customer is.
Do thorough market research before starting a new business or taking your current business online. This market research will help you understand your customer, where they currently buy, and determine what makes your business better than the competition.
Speak directly to your customer using online tools such as email marketing, websites, social media and landing pages.
2. Solve your customer’s problems.
Ask these questions. What are their needs? Customize your gift
Give extras, sell, give other things they want.
Then tell your customer why you are better or how to solve their problem. Be clear about your scope of delivery and what you will charge.
3. Get traffic to your website from as many sources as possible.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is not difficult, but it does take time. Social media is your voice and method for connecting with newcomers.
Develop valuable offerings such as free e-books with information; it gets people to sign up for your mailing list. Send your traffic and gifts as many ways as possible. Repeat your gift everywhere!

I recently had a backlog problem with a website that was booked in a day for $5. My time (and my sanity) is worth more than that, and so is yours!
